An online bingo fan from Dumfries has won a starring role in a new national TV series. Kenneth Crosbie was chosen to feature in the new Sunday evening programme about rapidly growing online bingo industry.

The show which started last Sunday at 7.30pm features on the Channel One station (which until recently was known as Virgin 1). The programme focuses on one of the largest independent online bingo operators in the UK and the staff and players at the site.

Mr Crosbie, a 42 year old stepdad of three and keen bingo player, was picked from tens of thousands of Crown Bingo members. The series looks at how companies such as Crown Bingo have revolutionised the bingo industry and how bingo players in the UK are logging on to bingo sites rather than playing bingo at traditional bingo clubs. Crosbie will be starring in parts of the show that were filmed in Newcastle earlier this month.

Mr Crosbie added: “I’ve been playing online bingo on and off now for about two years.

“The highlights have been a couple of big house wins of £350 and £250 but winning a line or two still gives me a thrill.

“I have been to the Gala Bingo in Dumfries, but only when my pal has dragged me along.

“I was really surprised to get an invite to take part in the show but the filming on the day was a whole lot of fun - it’s not every day you get to be on TV.

“I can't wait to see myself on the TV and neither can my friends and family. I just hope I don’t look too daft.

“My partner Karen plays bingo and that’s what got me started. A lot of men have taken up bingo, but find it a bit embarrassing, which is why we play online.”
