Bingo Used to Help Children with Maths Education
Monday, 04 October 2010 09:03

The UK’s favourite past-time is being used in schools to help children with their education. Today, bingo is far from just a leisure activity, schools are using a variation of the game to teach a variety of subjects including reading, vocabulary, English, foreign languages and maths.

While in the standard bingo game bingo cards generally have numbers with the caller calling out the bingo numbers for players to mark off. To aid students in school the teachers call out a maths question which the students then work out and then cross off the right answer on their ‘bingo card’. The game can be used for all different types of maths from basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to more complex math problems.

For other subjects the numbers are replaced with words to help student with their understanding and spelling. Teachers can ask questions like what is another word for ………? Or what is the third letter in the word ……… ?
