A man that was convicted of breaking into a bingo club in Burnley has been given an eight month jail sentence. It appears even though our reports show that breaking into bingo is crazy given the industries obsessions on security villains continually see bingo clubs as an easy target. Andrew Woodrup, 29, is the latest bingo burglar to be swapping some of his free time for a stretch behind bars. Woodrup, of Lindsay Street, Burnley, broke into the Gala Bingo club on Centenary Way in the early hours on 17th September. Following an investigation by the neighbourhood police and the town centre CCTV operators he was recognised and arrested. The Burnley magistrates sentenced Woodrup to 120 days imprisonment for the burglary and gave him a further 145 days from a suspended sentence for a previous burglary. A member of the Burnley Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, Sergeant Martin Storey, commented: “Woodrup’s conviction is the latest custodial sentence secured against offenders who have targeted the town centre. “We are determined to keep crime levels low and will continue to do all we can to target offenders and put them before the courts.”
