An empty building which is known trouble area is to be turned into an £8 Premier Inn. Work on the site where the disused Carlton Bingo stands has begun with diggers and bulldozers preparing to demolish the venue on Huntly Street, Inverness. The new Premier Inn, will include a bar, restaurant and conference facilities and according to the property owner, Aberdeen-based Ardmuir, the new hotel will bring more than 40 jobs to the local area. The building which prior to being a bingo club had also been a cinema has been empty for the last 5 years and is a hot spot for underage teenage drinkers. Richard Thom, director of Ardmuir Developments, said: “We are delighted to announce that Oglivie Construction has started work on the hotel, which will be a valuable addition to the accommodation choices available for visitors to the city. “It’s been a prosperous year for tourism in Inverness and we hope the new development will provide a welcome boost to the economy.”
