The Roman Bank bingo club in Skegness has been sold to an independent bingo operator. The Roman Bank has been operated successfully for decades by Mr Bill Greatorex and his partner Jean Best but on Bill reaching the age of 95, he has now decided to retire from the place he has been operating on a daily basis. Mr Greatorex has enjoyed his time at the club and has been looking to retire and find a buyer in the last year. The bingo industry has suffered a huge downturn with profit warnings being the normality for some of the larger organisations. Unfortunately, the bingo business being the way it is, the club has suffered from not attracting the level of interest it would have received around 6 or 7 years ago but a company has stepped in to ascertain the future of the bingo club. Mr Greatorex along with his partner Mrs Best are going to be sad to see the place go, but it was important that they sold the club to a person or organisation that had good intentions for continuing the bingo business and offer the people of Skegness a fine place to continue their games of bingo. The new operators who are extremely experienced in running bingo businesses of this size are said to be pleased with the new acquisition and look forward to the challenges ahead. The official takeover will take place on Monday 1st November 2010. |
