The Globe Bingo in Donnington, Telford showed its community spirit on Saturday 13th when it gave away over 2000 cups of tea and coffee, 1000 helium balloons and 15 hundred lollipops in support of the Mammoth Bonfire and Fair on the adjacent fields. With it being one of the biggest events in the area the club decided to provide a little bit of support to say thank you to residents that have supported the club over the years. Even with near freezing temperatures the club management and staff set up a variety of tables outside the club for the night so that local residents could enjoy free tea, coffee and biscuits and the children were given balloons and lollipops. The generosity was very much appreciated with by locals who had to pass the club to get to the even. Mrs Thompson commented: “with it being such a cold night it was so kind of the club to provide hot drinks, the grandkids face lit up when they saw the balloons and lollipops” Media reports suggest that the even attracted around 10,000 people. John Keenan, General Manager, at the Globe Bingo club added: “with it being one of the biggest events in the area and so many locals attending we wanted to give something back to the community and help make the night a little extra special” “The team did a fantastic job, it was such a cold night and giving out more than 2,000 hot drinks and 1,000 helium balloons was quite a task”
