Firefighters were called in to save a former bingo club from being burnt to the ground after a bin fire spread to the main building. The fire crew from Thames-side fire station attended the blaze in Darnley Road, Gravesend at around 5am. Initially the fire was limited to bin bags outside the premises but as the fire spread to the boarded up property additional help from the station was called in to help out. Within an hour the fire crews had put out the blaze and the site was deemed safe. There was damage to the exterior of the building but it is believed that the fire did not spread to the inside of the building.
