The two Gala Bingo clubs, Derrys Cross and Charles Cross, worked together on a number of fundraisers throughout December to raise £1500 to host a party at Stonehouse Creek Leisure and Social Club. Close to the heart of Gala Bingo Derry Cross club operations manager David Gregory-Clements, Ridleys offers a drop-in service for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities. They receive support, information, guidance and a place to socialise in a friendly environment.During the party friends and family of the charity were treated to a Christmas buffet followed by a much anticipated game of bingo and a disco, before walking away with a goody bag which included a £10 high street voucher. As an extra surprise, Gala Bingo donated a 32-inch plasma TV to Ridleys, which was revealed as part of the celebrations. David Gregory-Clements said: “We have been supporting Ridleys for four years now and seeing how much everyone enjoys these Christmas parties, makes all the hard work worthwhile. It’s a fantastic charity and we feel as part of a small community in Plymouth we should give something back to them.” David added: “I would like to thank Mark and Mary King at Stonehouse Creek for generously giving us the venue for free and all the team members from Gala Bingo Plymouth Derrys Cross and Charles Cross for giving up their time and getting behind such a worthwhile cause.” Nikki Hornsby, manager of Ridleys said: “I’d like to thank Gala Bingo for their time and generosity in organising the party and for the donation of the TV. Everyone who attended had an absolutely brilliant night. The annual Gala Bingo Christmas party is something that everyone at Ridleys looks forward to.” Dr Colin Morgan, head of corporate responsibility at Gala Bingo, said: “We love working with Ridleys – it’s such a rewarding event that really brings them all together.”
