Bingo fans in Blackburn are being targeted to be foster parents, as a special event has been set up in a local bingo club in the area. Bingo players are being informed of the positive things associated with helping out children in need of a home.

The event is part of the You Can Foster initiative, which seeks to encourage those in the north-west to foster. Managing directors of Gala Bingo, Simon Wykes commented: "New bingo halls are aimed at attracting younger people from the ages of 18 to 35 who are now coming to play."

He added being at the club is about much more than just playing the pastime, as it is a "whole leisure experience".

There is currently a shortfall of around 2000 foster carers in the area and reports suggest Blackburn and Darwen council are working with 22 local authorities to reduce the deficit.
