The Australian senator, Nick Xenophon, has criticised the police for not enforcing laws that prohibit online casino sites from accepting bets from Australians. The senator, who is an anti-gambling campaigner, added that is was ‘very disturbing’ that Australian Federal Police (AFP) were not enforcing the ban on online gambling under the 2001 Australia's Interactive Gambling Act (IGA). The AFP claimed that it had limited resources and used a model to decide which cases to pursue. It is reportedly currently looking into the activities of several poker sites in co-operation with and at the request of the FBI.
