Keen angler and bingo player, Fred Freeston, had a fantastic weekend picking up a cheque on Friday evening for £14,476.45. The lucky pensioner won the top prize on one of the link games at the Gliderdrome Bingo club in Boston. While you have to be lucky to be the winner of link games with other clubs in the country linking up to take part, Mr Freeston only ever plays three bingo tickets. “Most people play six cards at a time, but I can’t always keep up, so I just play three,” Mr Freeston told the local paper. “I’ve been coming here for more than 20 years and I’ve never won anything like this before. “I’ve won £30 or £50 on a few occasions, but that’s it.” Mr Freeston suggested that he might spend a little of the money on his fishing hobby but hasn’t decided what else to spend it on. “I didn’t think I’d ever win an amount like this so I’ll need to think about what I’ll do with it,” he added. “It’s just going in the bank for now.”
