The Alderney Gambling Commission which grants the licenses for online bingo, casino and poker operators for those based in Alderney has withdrawn the license granted to Full Tilt Poker. The regulator claims to act to protect the reputation of Alderney as a first tier eGambling jurisdiction and that all electronic gambling is conducted honestly and fairly; the funding, management and operation of electronic gambling on Alderney remains free from criminal influence; and, electronic gambling is regulated and monitored so as to protect the interests of licensees’ customers as well as the young and vulnerable. The reality is that the license should have been withdrawn immediately following US action against the company when it was clear the company would not be able to meets its obligations.

Some of the practices of online gambling companies in relation to a variety of aspects are questionable and while the Gambling Commissions in both Alderney and Gibraltar claim to be acting in a responsible manner there seems to be a lot of talk and very little action.

In relation to Full Tilt Poker the Alderney commission issued a statement earlier this week confirming that suspension notices were served on Vantage Ltd, Oxalic Ltd, Filco Ltd and Orinic Ltd, which collectively trade as Full Tilt Poker. This suspension comes after an investigation where the commission discovered that Full Tilt Poker was operating contrary to Alderney legislation.

‘The decision to suspend the eGambling licence was in the public interest and, because of the seriousness and urgency of the matter, it required that immediate action be taken ahead of the regulatory hearing,’ it added.

After Full Tilt poker was raided by US Authorities and assets seized the company has been unable pay back customers. It is reported that more than $200 million is owed to US players.
