A weekly bingo club that is in danger of closing is appealing for help from the public.

While the Stokesley OAP Bingo Club meets every Tuesday evening in the local town hall it is getting to the point where organisers have to consider pulling the plug as numbers have declined in recent times.

Rosemary Baliff, 52, who runs the free club along with Sybil Foster, 78, commented: “The club has been running for about 45 years.

“Gradually people have left and we are now down to 35 members. With the prices of the books and the hall, we can’t make it up to keep going.

“We do run bric-a-brac stalls to help boost the club but it is not enough at the moment.”

Rosemary added: “We like to take the members away for the day to Scarborough - it is something we have done every year and it is a shame to think we might not be able to do it anymore.

“We are going to give ourselves until the end of the year and then take it from there.

“If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.”

Rosemary can be contacted by telephoning 01642 941202
