According to reports in the South Yorkshire Times, bingo sessions are part of a program being used to "break down barriers" between the younger and older generation. The project which was organised by Doncaster's Youth Council aims to get young people to meet up with older members of the public in order to "help break down barriers and stereotypes”. Outings which have included bingo, pottery classes, coffee mornings and trips to allotments, have helped the to different generations to see beyond stereotypical views and see the similarities and common gounds. Debbie Burton, a member of the child services engagement team, commented: "They've been engaging in activities such as table tennis, glass painting and bingo where older generations have passed on their skills to younger ones. "The youth council have set up similar projects to return the favour, such as teaching older generations the skills required to use a mobile phone."
