Pupils at the Queen Elizabeth II High School in the Isle of Man are hoping to raise funds for school courses by arranging a bingo event. The school which has had a successful year with students being rewarded with the good GCSE and A-Level results has seen its largest number of pupils return for sixth form to take up A-levels. After four years of budget cuts the school is reportedly struggling and has resorted to fundraising events to balance the books. Pupils have helped arranged a series of events including bingo, an adults-only back to school night and a ball. Sue Moore the Head teacher told the local newspaper that the school must save nearly ten per cent of its budget this year. "So far, we have managed to maintain extremely high standards, as you can see, thanks mainly to the dedication and hard work of all the staff of the school," she said.
