While William Hill has been in the media for all the wrong reasons this week as it deals with the events of its operations in Israel, the company has announced some good news. It will be the title sponsor of the 2011 Grand Slam of Darts, which is being played at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall from 12th – 20th November. The gaming group which also owns William Hill Bingo will sponsor the Sky Sports TV event. It will see 32 players, including Phil Taylor the three-time winner, current champion Scott Waites and World Champion Adrian Lewis. The players will compete in 8 groups in order to gain a place in the final 16. The winning player in the finals on Sunday 20th November will scoop the top prize of £100,000. "We'd like to welcome William Hill as the new title sponsors of the 2011 Grand Slam of Darts and look forward to working with such a well-known and respected brand," commented the PDC chairman Barry Hearn. "This tournament brings together the greatest players in darts, who have qualified by virtue of their achievements in major tournaments over a two-year period, and in William Hill we have a sponsor whose stature reflects that."
