Irish bookmake, Boyle Sports is to take over 15 of William Hill’s betting shops in Ireland for an undisclosed amount. The Irish company claims that the deal will save 65 jobs in Ireland and will result in the company having 176 land based betting sites and employing around 1100 employees. The new shops will be rebranded by the end of this year following the deal. Boyle Sports acquired 17 land based sites in Ireland earlier this year and no doubt this will not be the last acquisition. Boyle Sports founder and CEO, John Boyle, commented: “Times are difficult for everyone in these recessionary times and we at Boyle Sports are thrilled that we can help save jobs and continue to show our commitment to the Irish retail betting industry. This latest takeover will complement our existing shops and further cement our position as the largest independent bookmaker in Ireland.”
