Fans of the Flutters bingo hall are campaigning to stop the bulldozers from knocking the building down and are hoping that it is returned to its former glory. Following support from the local council planning departments the site is set to be redeveloped with the building facing demolition next year. A Facebook group, Save Flutters Bigno Hall, Hinckley &Convert it into a Live Musc Venue, has been setup and already has hundreds of members supporting the campaign. The creator of the group, Dave Grant, is hoping that the Flutters premises will play an important part in Hinckley’s culture for many more years. He said: “Hopefully we can save this fantastic building and perhaps create something that the town is in dire need of - a decent, fair-sized venue for live music and shows. “Hopefully there will be a lot of interest generated and we are trying to set up an e-petition through the borough council’s website, but there is no joy at present. Hopefully once this is created people who are not on Facebook can get involved.” The plans that have already been given the go ahead include knocking down the bingo club, the row of shops next door and the disused toilet block. The site would then be used to build a new supermarket, squash club and Territorial Army drill hall. The project could be completed by 2014.
