A former Top Bingo which closed in February 2010 is likely to be knocked down in the near future to make way for future developments. The run down bingo club includes a car park and landscaping. Local residents were reportedly heartbroken when Top Ten made the decision to close shut the doors of the Neath site however the building is now an eyesore. Bryncoch South councillor Tony Wyn-Jones, who worked at the Empire in the 1960s, said: "I would like to see it turned into something for the community. "I would like to see it developed into an extra large community centre where we could have a ballroom. It would be a shame for the building to just disappear. The director of development at Coastal Housing, Gerraint Oakley, hoped the development would improve the area. "We are quite excited about the project as we have applied for a grant from the Welsh Government's economic stimulus package," he said. "The building is quite rundown so we are looking to improve the outlook for the local residents." Geoff White, the council's head of planning, added: "Publicity and consultations with relevant statutory consultees have been completed so a decision should be made shortly."
