Gala has announced the closure of 5 bingo clubs today as it looks to cut costs within the Gala Coral gaming group.  Gala is the largest Bingo chain in the Uk with 153 bingo clubs but the closures will take the group down to 148.

The Press Association website has named the areas for closure as Hull, Port Glasgow, Leven in North East Fife,

Pitsea and Aldridge.

Group chairman Neil Goulden has stated that "Gala is trading ahead of last year despite these very challenging conditions".

Gala hope to move some of the staff to neighbouring bingo clubs within their group where possible.  The cuts will also put them in a stronger trading position and hope to improve and expand in the future.

Gala have blamed the tough economic climate and the recent duty rise as the reasons behind the decision to close these bingo clubs.
