All is set for the Bingo tax protest due to take part tomorrow on The Green outside The Houses Of Parliament in Westminster, London. Bingo Supermarket will send in representatives to report on the day's events and it is expected to fetch widespread media coverage. The Finance Bill will be discussed on the day and it is hoped that Ministers particularly in The Treasury will be aware of the bad feeling this surprise tax hike has been imposed on land bingo clubs in the UK. Already over 500 attendees have confirmed they will be on The Green between 11.30am and 2pm. Some MPs have already confirmed they will join the bingo players and show their support for bingo industry and appeal to the Government to reconsider their position. Bob Spink, an independent MP that covers the Canvey Island area has already confirmed his attendance and many more MPs are expected to come across. Bingo correspondents Sandra Thompson and Mark Bennett will join the protest updating the Bingo Industry as the days events unfold. Bingo Players in their hundreds will be on The green along with Bingo club bosses. Dave Holt responsible for six independent bingo clubs in the UK will be present along with The Bingo Association. The Government raised bingo duty from 15 to 22 percent in the last budget without consultation with the bingo industry. Betting and casino tax remained at 15 percent. Mecca Bingo's Ian Burke has claimed the Government were vindicating the industry after Mecca won its VAT case in the High court.
