Some bingo clubs in the country are going through a period of consultation and it is hoped that the government change their mind on the recent tax hike. The government raised the bingo duty levels from 15 percent to 22 percent in the last budget and many clubs in companies large and small are now re-evaluating their businesses and many are now falling short of the break even point. For many operators, they have seen that the government have made errors, they can be slow to react and in the meantime some businesses become casulaties as they cannot cling on whilst the tax bill is debated.
The bingo industry is to come together on the 1st July 2009 opposite Parliament on The Green whilst the finance bill is discussed. MPs are expected to also turn up in numbers to back the industry and turn against the Government whilst urging Ministers to reconsider.
