Bingo Players to Stage Protest

Bingo organisations together with Bingo Association are to stage a protest on The Green oppostite Westminster. The protest is to demonstrate to the government the public feeling of the recent tax hike from 15 percent to 22 percent. Gala Bingo and Mecca Bingo are believed to be organising coach parties of customers to go to the Green in a few weeks and will hopefully capture more media attention.

Other independent bingo organisations will be turning up to show support and it is hoped the government will take notice and accept the fact that this issue of taxation will not simply disappear.

Members of parliament have been making visits to bingo clubs in their constiuencies and are getting support, however those MPs who hold a Ministerial position are supporting the cause off the record and giving useful advice but are then publically supporting the Treasury as they are having to show signs of unity.

Bingo in the UK is still extremely popular and in this current economic and political climate, the government or even a new potential government will wake up to the fact that bingo players do have influence. Bingo players will not take this obvious tax rise lying down.

The Protest is expected to take place on or around 1st July 2009 at 2pm, Bingo Supermarket will confirm the date very shortly
