Top Ten Bingo formerly the 3rd largest UK Bingo operator is closing another bingo club this time in Fleetwood. Bingosupermarket reported just a few weeks ago about the closure of the Tivoli in Middleton near Leeds claiming that the combination of the smoking ban, double taxation and the economic conditions have contributed to their downfall. The Fleetwood weekly news reports the Top Ten Bingo club on Poulton Road is one of the town's oldest and most established venues. The club's manager Ken Davies raised concerns last year "As more people are gambling on the internet from home than attending in bingo clubs, more outlets are facing closures every week." The report will devastate the existing members as many who visit the traditional bingo club attend for social reasons and visit their local club to get themselves out of the house. Although online bingo is promoted heavily, for some bingo players the online bingo club is not an alternative. Top Ten have not yet confirmed the exact date of the closure as it still continues to operate. Some bingo clubs are reporting a surge in business including a Gala Bingo club in Peterborough with record growth. At the other end of the scale Buckingham Bingo in Preston, a multi million pound bingo development had to close its doors just a few weeks ago. |
