Regent Bingo and Social club in Deal, Kent has been the latest casualty in the declining offline bingo market. Managing Director and owner Robin Bloom has had to close the doors of this once popular seaside bingo club due to poor trading conditions. Mr Bloom has been a major campaigner for the reduction in taxation on land based bingo clubs for many years but has now had to throw in the towel. The smoking ban and the increased popularity of online bingo has dealt the final blow much to the disappointment of many of the regular and loyal attenders. Many companies in the bingo industry are having to tighten their belts and cut costs so finding a buyer for the club would have been an impossibility. Many other operators including Mecca, Gala, Top Ten are feeling the pinch and continuing to look at ways of decreasing operating costs.
