The Opera Bingo club in Workington is hoping to re-open its doors after the flooding in Cumbrian town that claimed hundreds of businesses.
The popular Cumbrian Bingo club was forced to close its doors after relentless flooding and water ripped through the building last Thursday.
Record breaking rainfall swept away hundreds of the towns businesses and flood warnings remained in place for days as heavy rainfall continued causing the collapse of 6 bridges. Plans to build a temporary railway station by Northern Rail are being put into action.
Although the bingo club is likely to re-open its doors tomorrow, it won't be business as usual since the club is cut off from major road links and the damage is running into tens of millions of pounds. Jill Stannard, cheif executive from the Cumbrian County council have assessed the damage and the Cumbria Chief constable Craig Mackey said "It could take years for the area to recover".
Soldiers from the 39 Regiment Royal Artillary have been sent to the area to assist.
