Rank, the operators of Mecca Bingo club have expressed their concerns that the recent bingo tax reduction announced in last week's pre budget report has not gone far enough to negate the damage caused by the tax hike in April this year.
Dan Waugh, a spokesperson from mecca Bingo has said that the reduction will still be a net loss to many operators although the government have insisted this was not thier intention.
Accountants Ernst and Young who have done extensive work and carried out many calculations on behalf of Mecca have continued to pursue the case and still argue the tax will save £2.5 million a year from the recent increase which is still not recouping all the tax from the 22 percent hike.
Reports are also coming through that in the wake of the recent Value Added Tax reclaim by bingo clubs for mechanised cash bingo have now been given to operators, it is understood the claims for main stage bingo are also going to be dealt with a lot more efficiently with some operators now been given a protective assessment.
Bingo Supermarket will keep the industry posted on any developments. |
