Police have issued a fresh appeal two after an 80 year old woman died having been mugged on the way back from bingo. The lady had extensive injuries inflicted by a cyclist who mugged her and made off with her handbag. Mary Porter suffered a collapsed lung, several broken ribs, and a broken arm. Police have issued a fresh appeal for information in relation to the 'cowardly attack' in August, 2008. The victim was pulled to the ground by the cyclist as she was returning home in the rain to Paderborn Court, Bolton, Greater Manchester. Bolton Coroners' Court was told Mrs Porter was treated at Royal Bolton Hospital. While she was undergoing treatment she developed bronchial pneumonia as a direct result of her injuries. She suffered a heart attack on September 29 and died on October 2. Mrs Porter suffered a 'slow and pretty tragic decline'. Her daughter, Shelagh Orrell commented: 'People who do something like this are lowlife,' 'They are just looking for a quick fix and a few quid. They are scum of the earth. They don't think about their actions or the outcomes of their actions.' Mrs Porter, was a former Post Office clerk. She had a walking stick in her right hand and an umbrella in her left. Her handbag was believed to be over her left shoulder when the attacker struck.
