Bingo Club Will No Longer Have To Close
Saturday, 11 September 2010 00:00

A new Tesco development has been changed so that it does not affect a much loved bingo club. A group of pensioners managed to convince bosses not to tear down the building.

According to the Birmingham Mail the Brownhills Senior Citizens' Club from Walsall opposed plans for the new Tesco development. Around 350 people signed a petition which was handed to the local council.

Tony Fletcher, the corporate affairs manager at Tesco, confirmed: "The club will be retaining what they've got. The new plans involve purely moving other things around so that the building isn't required."

More than 40 members like to meet and play bingo in the hall three times a week. John Dunn the club chairman added that those who enjoy the venue will be delighted with the outcome.
