Recent research carried out into online bingo players has concluded that around 70 percent of online bingo players are female which is higher than the same percentage of female players in bingo clubs. However the reality is that the percentages are a lot closer than the report reveals.

It was suggested by Wiki Bingo that the number of ladies that play bingo in bingo clubs is around 60 percent. "For now at least, it appears that online bingo will remain mostly female," the report remarked.

Furthermore one of the reasons that the percentage of female players was as high in online bingo was that the majority of the marketing strategies used were geared towards the fairer sex. These can be seen in the colour and design of websites (e.g. the colour pink), the types of functions the sites have such as horoscopes, and the types of prizes offered.

The report claimed that the bingo providers were also regularly linked with brands favoured by woman such as televisions soaps.

The report also observed it would be interesting to see whether or not it would make a big difference if a site chose to market themselves specifically at blokes. Ironically there is a bingo site geared towards the men e.g. Bloke Bingo.

It also should be noted that from the operators we have spoken to the percentage of woman in bingo clubs is much high than this report indicates and in fact the levels are possibly the same as the online bingo statistics.

As it is believed that there are more online male gamblers than there are woman, we can clearly see that men prefer alternative forms of online gambling such as poker, casino and sports betting.
