A local bingo club in Yorkshire is getting ready for its annual pantomime this Sunday with a special visit from Santa and his helpers. The show is that popular that there is now a waiting list for eager youngsters as the 250 tickets sold out nearly a month ago.

The Ritz Bingo club in Castleford will open its doors to the under 18’s on Sunday with the show starting at 12:30pm. The two hour performance is conducted by Chaplins and subsidised by the club. Ticket cost just £3 which includes a visit to the Santa grotto and a present from Santa. While this was a common practice many years ago due to cost rarely do bingo clubs arrange such events.

Bingosupermarket representative Jayne Wilson attended the event last year and commented: “it was so nice to see bingo clubs putting in the effort to support the local community, this year I am bringing along my son”

Margaret Blyne, a member at the club commented: “It is such a great day, I bring my two grandchildren and they have such a great time. The atmosphere and performances are far better than any pantomime I have ever seen before. The management and staff work so hard to ensure the day is just perfect”

Not only does the club subsidise the event and provide free presents to all the children but they also put together tuck shop bags for the children during the interval which cost just £1, including a variety of treats and drink.

General Manager at the Ritz Bingo club, Alan Gamban said: “Each year we have a pantomime and customers parties in December to say thank-you to all our customer for their support throughout the year. Most people in the area are either members of the club or know someone that is a member so it is pretty much open to everyone. All the children, parents and staff have a great time which makes it so worthwhile”
