As per our reports on 4th November 2010 the Weoley Castle Bingo club in Birmingham was sold by Shipleys to Castle Bingo and the sale was completed last week. Hopefully the new owners will have more luck with the purpose built bingo club than its former owners did. Shipleys currently operates three bingo clubs, the other two sites being Redditch and Kidderminister. Unlike many other operators the clubs are very hi-tech with impressive décor. The Weoley Castle club is a 1200 seat luxury bingo venue with ample off street parking and regular bus services to the club. The club has a modern design with access for wheelchair users and outdoor heated smoking shelters for those who want to smoke. Clearly Castle Bingo has ambitious plans to expand and it is a nice surprise to see the company expand its operating area. Castle Leisure is the leading bingo operator in South Wales and its 8 purpose built bingo clubs (Bridgend, Canton, Merthyr Tidfil, Morriston, Nantgarw, Neath, Cardiff, Newport) are based within the region. The company has occupied its head office site in Cardiff continuously since 1856.
