Since 2009 the Rank Group which is the parent company of Mecca Bingo, Grosvenor Casinos and Rank Interactive has worked to raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity. The gaming giant set a target for their fundraising goal of £200,000 and managed even in a difficult year to raise an amazing £270,000.

The money will be used by Marie Curie nurses to help care for the terminally ill patients in their homes. The money will provide around 12,500 hours of nursing care in local UK communities. Rank employees took part in a number of different events as part of the fund raising initiatives including book sales, fashion shows, Blooming Great Tea Parties, cycle rides, sky dives and playing high stakes poker at the top of Mount Snowdon.

Rank Group chief executive Ian Burke commented: “We never cease to be amazed by the team spirit and generosity of both our team members and customers. I’m very proud of how our teams, both across the sites and in the support offices, have embraced this partnership and we look forward to continuing to raise funds for such a worthy cause in 2011.”
