As a result of its efforts in fundraising, which included the use of bingo games to raise money, the Ashvale Fish Restaurant in Aberdeen has been rewarded for its efforts. The restaurant picked up the accolade of Contribution to the Local Community at the National Fish & Chip Awards. The Ashvale Fish Restaurant opened in 1985 and is reported to be one of the biggest fundraising establishments in the area and regularly uses bingo sessions to help with the charity initiatives. Gary Lewis, commercial manager at Nortech Foods, sponsor of the award, commented: "The level of fundraising and ingenuity behind the Ashvale Fish Restaurant's projects and also the way they raised awareness of their community was obviously a success."
