A teenage girl has become a local hero after saving her 62-year-old grandmother from a local criminal. Doris Driscoll was on her way home from the Castle Bingo club in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales when a man grabbed her bag. Danielle Driscoll who had been walking with her grandmother chased the villain and eventually caught up with Phillip Andrew Emery as he ran into a dead-end car park. Danielle held the 43-year-old thief down until he gave up the handbag and ran off. "Danielle ran up behind him, shouting a few choice words," added the bingo grandmother, who is currently recovering from breast cancer. "She grabbed him and wouldn't let go and kept shouting 'drop it, drop it, or I'll punch you'." Doris talked of her pride in her granddaughter’s brave actions in helping her. The lowlife thief, Phillip Andrew Emery, was later arrested by the police and has now been sentenced to three years in prison for a string of offences.
