For those unfortunate enough to be in hospital in South Tyneside for the Royal Wedding and Bank Holiday weekend they will have the joy of being able to play bingo while enjoying party food. While up and down the country there will be numerous street parties for those that are in hospital the days is likely to pass by without the same level of fun. However, the elderly patients of ward 20 in South Tyneside's District Hospital are to benefit from as the sisters have arranged a ward party that can be enjoyed while in bed. Nurses Pat Alford and Sharon Rafferty and ward manager David Shell have already been putting up bunting and flags to get everyone into the party spirit. After Prince William and Kate Middleton have made their vows to one another the staff will be hosting bingo games with the patients which will help to raise funds for the ward.
Ms Alford added that many of those on the ward had witnessed previous Royal Weddings and celebrations.
"It will be lovely for the patients to gather around the TV and watch this latest occasion in royal history," she added.
