The online gambling firm Betfred is certainly on a spending spree to catapult the brand to the forefront of the online gambling industry. Betfred are becoming increasingly acquisitive with several bingo brands now forming part Betfred Bingo. Betfred has this week closed the acquisition of Bucky Bingo and BOGOF Bingo from Buckingham Bingo Clubs. The acquisition now gives Betfred three bingo brands all powered by Playtech powered Virtue Fusion online bingo software. John Haddock Betfred’s MD told reporters “Betfred.com, one of the world’s largest independent sports betting brands, has acquired the online bingo brand BuckyBingo.co.uk and sister brand BOGOFBingo.co.uk. The acquisition will be highly beneficial to the operation and marketing of the BuckyBingo brand, building on their current experience and strengths. This is a great acquisition for Betfred.com of a leading brand in the Bingo market. Our intention is to continue with the Bucky brand and it will be business as usual.” Betfred CEO has separately tabled an offer for the Tote with a £200m cash bid which would guarantee racing income of £120m over the next seven years. Fred Done, CEO of Betfred told a news conference: “I am passionate about racing and we want to work with racing and prove ourselves with them. We have the greatest horseracing in the world and I want the sport to thrive. I would keep the name of the Tote on the racecourses and would look to grow the Totepool both here in the UK and internationally. I’m delighted the government have pledged 50% of the net proceeds of the sale to racing and coupled with my contributions racing will get over 120 million in the next seven years. The Tote is synonymous with racing, that’s one of the reasons the deal excites me so much., and then racing would get more cash. Owning the Tote has been a long standing ambition of mine, it’s exciting and I now just want to get past the winning post.”
