A bingo event was held on Friday evening at the Evesham Rowing Club to raise funds for the Acquired Brain Injury Education Service. Wayne Philbrick, who organised the fundraising event, knows what benefits the service provides having received help from the group over the last seven years. He has received various treatments including the removal of a brain tumor. Prior to the event Wayne had already raised funds through the sale of raffle tickets. The Acquired Brain Injury Education Service was formed to rectify the lack of rehabilitation services that were available in the community for people with brain injuries. It was started in 1984 at the South Worcestershire College and received financial help from the Manpower Services Commission. In 1991 a funding body was set up to help aid the charity. The fund was called the Acquired Aphasia Trust and it endeavoured to raise money for all the important work of The Acquired Brain Injury Education Service.
