Barry Gibson who is a non-executive director at Playtech the online gambling software provider has resigned with immediate effect. Gibson who has held the role since March, has departed to pursue other business interests. Gibson 59 was Senior Independent Director at William Hill plc until June 2009, where he served on the board for over seven years. He has also held the CEO of Littlewoods plc, which had included the Littlewoods Pools and Bet Direct. Other roles have included Chairman of Homeserve plc and non-executive director on the boards of National Express plc, Littlewoods plc and Somerfield plc. Roger Withers, Playtech's non-executive chairman,commented: "Barry has bought a wealth of experience to Playtech during a very important period of its development and has been an integral part of its growth. I and we are extremely grateful to him for his service to the company and wish him every success in his future endeavours." Gibson suggested that he decisions was down too many commitments: "I am stepping down from the Board as the increasing demands of my other commitments have meant that I am unable to devote the appropriate time to my duties as a Board member."
