Kezia Obama, the stepmother of the US President, Barack Obama, has been given British citizenship. Kezia, who is Mr Obama’s father’s first wife, is a regular bingo player in the Bracknell area where she has lived for the last ten years. She is officially now a British citizen after being given a Certificate of Nationalisation, which is the last step before obtaining a full British passport. Ian Manners, the ex-husband of Kezia’s daughter Auma, Mr Obama’s half sister, told a local paper in Bracknell: “Kezia has lived in Bracknell for 10 years and loves it here. “She is very proud to become a British citizen. “She filled in all the paperwork and was delighted to be able to go to the ceremony to be officially made a citizen by the mayor. “She still lives in Bullbrook and goes to the Farningham old people’s home and Dennis Pilcher house to play Bingo with her friends.” The Bracknell Forest mayor Councillor Chris Turrell who presented Kezia with her papers added: “I was really very pleased to present Mrs Obama with her citizenship documents. “She’s a very nice lady. “Most people become citizens after seven or eight years but she’s been living in Britain for 10. “She was clearly delighted to become a citizen and take the oath.”
