The Isle of Man has its sites on being the local Las Vegas. The Department of Economic Development is looking for a partner to develop a five-star hotel and casino complex as part of a plan to booster the islands reputation in the gaming sector. Officials claim demand for the gaming industry on the island is high and is looking for proposals before the end of January prior to making a decision. Parties are attracted to investment on the island due to the lax limits on gaming machines. Tim Craine, the director of the Department of Economic Development, commented: “The Isle of Man offers a unique location for a top-class hotel and spa leisure complex and securing a prominent new high quality facility for the island’s many leisure and business visitors will be an asset for our economy, “We hope that development of a new hotel and casino will be a catalyst for growing visitor business on the Island through the next decade”.
