Gala Bingo have taken the unprecedented move of calling a meeting and informing the staff that many job roles will be cut and a major restructuring of roles will take place over the next few weeks.
A report in the Daily Mirror confirmed the reports that many management roles will redusce and the departmental controllers and team leaders could be made redundant. Many of the senior staff will be asked to take a redundancy offer or they can take a less demanding role as a general staff on less pay. Speculators are saying this is could be a last resort for the struggling firm as it is beginning to struggle to make its interest payments back to the bank whilst staying within the banking covenants that are laid down. Gala Bingo have denied that the company is in financial trouble but this action made by the directors would probably suggest otherwise. Gala Bingo have blamed the smoking ban and recent punitive legislation changes for the reason behind making so many cuts in its business. A Gala letter to its employees states "The company has reviewed every aspect of its business and key part of this is in the way our clubs are structured to meet this challenge." |
