Bingo Supermarket reported that the Gala Bingo club in Cambridge called its final bingo session on 25th May 2009. The Gala Bingo club has since remained closed until a report in the local press has revealed the club could reopen illegally. Scott Bricas, 25 an IT manager has entered the building with an anarchy group who describe themselves as social misfits have now taken over the occupation. 20 people entered the building on Monday evening and are now going about making the building safe. Spokesperson for the group of revolutionists Scott Bricas has stated he knows his rights and claim to have not caused any damage in the building but in fact are making general improvements and tidying the place up. In addition the group have spoken to some of the 15 staff that were made redundant and appealed for their help. The future plans are to hold free bingo games in the building and have a large screen TV to show films whilst also opening up to community groups requiring space for fundraising events. In a statement to the Cambridge News Mr Bricas stated "This is a protest against councils and the capitalist system which are abandoning communities. We are calling for radical social change." An empty Tesco shop was recently taken over by squatters and the supermarket chain was forced to take the squatters to court before they could legally remove them from the premises. This group of squatters are planning to hold a public meeting this Saturday at 6pm and provide free entertainment.
