A 65 year old bingo hall worker has been shot in the leg after an incident at the Granada Bingo, East Prescot Road, Dovecote last Saturday evening. Two Youths were riding round the bingo club car park on a scrambler and was confronted by the victim.
The two youths drove away on the scrambler as the pillion passenger pulled out what was believed to be a handgun and opened fire on the bingo hall employee. Four rounds were fired and one hit the victim in the leg. The victim was taken to hospital and his injuries are believed to be minor with a flesh wound on his leg. Police are appealing for witnesses as a full scale investigation has been launched. Detectives are conducting house to house enquiries and looking at CCTV footage from the bingo club and nearby shops. Detective Chief Ins Richie Davies from the Merseyside police is heading up the investigation and has stated "This is a cowardly and violent attack on a man who had been at work at a local bingo hall, fortunately he has suffered minor injuries to his leg and recovering in hospital. I want to reassure the community that we are determined to catch those responsible and get them and the weapon that was used off our streets." |
