Bingo Players at the sheltered housing complex in Sighthill on the outskirts of Edinburgh have declared war after the organisation of a birthday bash.

Some residents at the accommodation complex were seeking approval to hold a birthday party at the home but sparked controversy when the night would clash with a regular bingo session. An internal committee set up to decide the timetable of events refused the party on grounds the bingo session took priority after it was put to a vote. The party organisers including Priscilla Cairns 54, claimed the vote was rigged when it came down to 5 members of the committee and they were outraged by this decision. Later, a pool table was destroyed that belonged to resident Elizabeth Mitchell,75 and she claims this is an inside job and linked to the decision that was made in respect of the bingo session. Police have been called in to investigate the act of vandalism and Lothian and Borders Police say investigations are ongoing. The council have also been called in to mediate commenting "We are working with local residents to resolve their differences."
