Online Bingo Offers Mislead Players
Wednesday, 17 February 2010 16:49

Today I was reading through all the promotional material of the new online bingo site Ready Set Bingo.  I was amazed to see that all the articles I read written about the site promoted it as offering the best value to players with a massive 750% bonus.  Even to me this seemed too good to be true and then I did the maths..... they claim its the best deal on the market... I think not!!

So by now I am even more surprised, you expect to have one article providing misleading information but all the articles I have read published the same deals. Did they not do the maths or is it that they all want to promote the 750% bonus in the hope that they attract more attention and increased hits and revenues. Either way it is pure misrepresentation and I wouldn't be surprised if online bingo players raise complaints. Before explaining, I would just mention that not to long ago we had an online bingo site that sent us an email with their latest offer on that claimed a 900% bonus for deposits. When I read the details I pointed out to them at the time that it was in fact a 300% bonus and nothing more. As expected we didn't print the promotion. Anyway on to current issue.

Firstly let us agree on what a 750% bonus is. If you had £100 and I gave you a bonus it would work something like this

£100 + 100% bonus (£100) = £200

£100 + 250% bonus (£250) = £350

£100 + 750% bonus (£750) = £850

I am sure everyone is more than happy with this bit. So lets assume my £100 is split into 3 deposits and you give me say 250% bonus on each of these deposits.

Deposit 1 £30 + 250% bonus (£75) = £105

Deposit 2 £30 + 250% bonus (£75) = £105

Deposit 3 £40 + 250% bonus (£100) = £140

Note how when my total deposits remain at £100 the bonus stays the same (e.g. £75+£75+1£100 sill comes to £250).

So back to the strange sign up bonus by the brand new online bingo site Ready Set Bingo. They claim quite openly and fairly that they will give you bonuses on your first 3 deposits between 250% and 300%. They give an example, £15 worth of free plays, make 3 deposits of £10 each and you will have £125 in your account. This is how they work it out.

Free money = £15

Deposit 1 £10 + 250% bonus (£20) = £35 (it's not quite clear whether your first deposit is 200% or 250% this is the only way the numbers balance)

Deposit 2 £10 + 250% bonus (£25) = £35

Deposit 3 £10 + 300% bonus (£30) = £40

So by all acoount you have deposited £30 in total and according to all the new press releases you are getting a whopping 750% (now we have shown it doesn't matter whether you break the deposits down or not the outcome is the same). So how much are you getting at 750% bonus

£30 + 750% bonus (£225) + £15 free play = £270 Wow if only it were true. Unfortuantely all those that clamed you get 750% lied to you!! They seem to thnk if you get 200% on the first bonus to 250% on the second bonus and 300% on the bonus that it is the same as  a 750% bonus. The reality people is that while it is a generous offer it is not much more than a 250% bonus offer on each of your first 3 deposits. In fact in fairness if you want to deposit £30 at an online bingo site more than half of them will give you a bonus which will provide you the same outcome.  So to summarise therefore you deposit £30 and you get an extre £75 plus the £15 everyone gets to try the site.

There are a number of other online bingo sites that run similar offers. This is a good offer but nothing special. One of the other points that has caught our readers attention in recent months is the constraints that have often been attached to free bingo money. We have had numerous complaints regarding players not being able to withdraw funds from their accounts or had to go to great lengths to do so. Quite often you cannot withdraw any winnings you recieve from your free money, sometimes you cannot even withdrawn winnings, having invested free money and the winnings.

Bingosupermarket is against any misleading communications and feels there should be a Code of Conduct in relation deposits, bonuses and withdrawals for online gaming.

Having tried the site, Ready Steady Bingo I can confirm the wording on the site is the source of the misleading promotions:

"Receive a total of 750% bonus on your first three deposits!"
